This year, Celebrate Advent!
If you are new to celebrating Advent, the word Advent comes from the Latin word meaning “To come” or “the Coming of something or someone important.”
Advent is observed the four weeks leading up to Christmas. It is a time to meditate on and to remember the true meaning of Christmas; the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and to prepare our hearts for His return. Each week we focus on a Promise of God with the Culmination of Advent celebrated on Christmas Eve or day as we celebrate the birth of Jesus; the one who fulfills all the promises.
Often families or churches use an advent wreath or light candles to aid in their meditation. Lighting a candle is a testimony to the power of light over darkness. The light of just one candle can push away the darkness in an entire room.
For our Advent celebration this year, we will post a video on Sunday with daily Scripture readings for the week.
